Endure is an art exhibition featuring women in the Yarra Ranges region who have used arts processes to assist the journey, management, and recovery of their mental health wellbeing.
​
The exhibition is open to new and existing works in all artforms, inclusive of paintings, photography, digital/ film art, tapestry/ woven/ sewn, 3-D works, performance art, print, and illustration.
The exhibition will be launched to coincide with Mental Health Week in October 2019 at Kapi Art Space in Kalorama. To encourage community engagement in this important social experience, a Peoples Choice Award will be offered in two categories [youth aged 12-17 and adults aged 18+] and prizes offered the form of in-kind exhibition space/ performance space to the value of $390. And to ages12 - 17 of 2 x 2-hour mentoring sessions at Kapi Art Space to the value of $170

Participating artists have a fantastic opportunity to both expose new or existing work to a myriad of collectors, gallery owners, curators, and art consultants, as well as giving voice and validation to experiences of mental health illness and reducing social stigma’s attached to those experiences.

Kapi will be funneling 30% of all exhibition entry fees towards additional programs to support creativity and mental health over the next year.

When
The exhibition will coincide with Mental Health Week, October 5 - 11 2019. The whole exhibition will run for around 2 weeks from Thursday 3rd - Monday 14th of October

Key Dates:
Initial application closes: Monday 16th September 5pm
Accepted artworks notified: Monday 23rd September
Exhibiting payment due: Friday 27th September by 5pm
Artwork delivered: Tuesday 1st October between 11am - 8pm
Exhibition Open: Thursday 3rd October - Monday 14th October
Exhibition Opening Event: Saturday 5th October 2pm
Peoples Choice Awards announced: Sunday 13th October 2pm
Pick up artworks: Wednesday 16th October between 11am - 8pm
Who can enter and Awards:
Women who live within and nearby the Yarra Ranges area, Victoria.
There will be two categories available for peoples choice awards:
Adult Women (18 +) Winner receives: In-kind exhibition space/ performance space to the value of $390.
Young Women (12 to 17yr-olds) Winner receives: 2 x 2 hour mentoring sessions at Kapi Art Space to the value of $170

Cost
The initial application is free. Accepted artworks $30 total for 1-3 pieces of art, due following your acceptance email, by the 27th of September (see key dates).
*Please note that we can not guarantee all of your submitted pieces will get hung if accepted. This is all dependant on the number of entries and themes throughout.

We accept for the exhibition:
2D artworks: original paintings, drawings, etchings, linocuts, screenprints & woodcuts, photography, etc. Hanging art can be no bigger than 150 x 150cm.
3D artworks: ceramics, glassware, sculpture, jewelry, tapestry/ weavings/ sewn. 3D to be no taller than 2M and no wider than 1M
written/ digital/ performance art: written presentation of poetry or prose, digital art, graphics, projections, singing, spoken word & drama. Time limits for performance or digital works is 3.5 mins.
Sales
All art can be for sale if you require. A 30% commission is awarded to Kapi Art Space. Kapi will be funneling 30% of all artwork sales towards additional programs to support creativity and mental health over the next year.
How many works can you enter?
You will be able to submit up to 3 artworks for consideration by the Selection Panel, however, acceptances are at the discretion of the Selection Panel. At least one of your submitted and accepted pieces will be displayed, possibly more depending on space and themes throughout.
When will you be notified?
Each submitting artist will be notified by email of the accepted artworks into the Endure Exhibition Monday 23rd September.
Some or all of your work may not be accepted. Some possible reasons for this may be:
1. You have not submitted a photograph or recording/video of your entry.
2. Limited exhibition space: the Selection Panel is looking for a diversity of works and will take into account style, size and subject matter, etc in their decision.
3. The purpose of the exhibition is to open up a conversation about how arts and creativity have aided women's experiences of mental health challenges. Artworks or description of artworks that speak to this will be prioritised for the exhibition.
Payment due:
After email notification, to further proceed with confirmation as an Exhibitor for Endure Exhibition, exhibiting payment of the Acceptance Fee of $30 per art piece must be paid via the online payment system by Friday 23 September 2019. You will receive an email with a link to the payment system.
