Melville was born and raised in Tasmania, and in his early teens was fascinated
with the idea of image-based storytelling. He spent many hours in the family
backyard in Stanley, creating images with his mother’s Instamatic camera.

A few years later, he thought he was pretty clever when he progressed onto a
Miranda 35mm SLR. (A few things have changed since the 70’s)

Following a long career in the construction industry, he studied photography in
Melbourne. Melville is now pursuing his goals as a photographer, and continues
with his dreams of storytelling within various genres such as ‘Film Stills’,
‘Environmental Portraiture’ and ‘Wildlife / Landscape Photography’.
