ENDURE eMERGE 2020

AN ON-LINE EXHIBITION FOR YARRA RANGES ARTISTS (& beyond)

October 1st - 30th

Entries Now Open! Submissions due by 20th September 5pm

ENDURE eMERGE 2020 is an art exhibition featuring artists in the Yarra Ranges region who have used arts processes to assist the journey, management, and recovery of their mental health and wellbeing. It follows the very successful Endure Exhibition for Women held at Kapi Art Space in 2019.

Particularly relevant to our present as we long for the emergence from the pandemic restrictions, this exhibition will share important stories of the experience and transition of our local creative community as they respond uniquely to this unprecedented time in our lives.

Art is used by people as a hobby, a dream, a job, but especially for many as a way of coping with life or all these things in different measures at different times. Creative artistic expression captured in this exhibition is continuing to play an important role for those seeking to adapt to the isolation, stresses and losses, opportunities, joys and unexpected consequences of extensive isolation from normal day to day activity, employment and community.

The exhibition will be launched to coincide with Mental Health Week in October 2020. Given the continuing community care required at this time, ENDURE eMERGE 2020 will only on-line this year @ www.kapiartspace.com to ensure everyone who wishes to access these works will be able to do so in safety and comfort.

The exhibition is open to new and existing works in all art forms, inclusive of paintings, photography, digital/ film art, tapestry/ woven/ sewn, 3-D works, performance art, print, and illustration.

Participating artists have a fantastic opportunity to both expose new or existing work to a supportive local community and the broader online community and gallery visitors, as well as giving voice and validation to experiences of mental health illness and recovery; reducing social stigma attached to those experiences.

To encourage community engagement in this important social experience, a People’s Choice Award will be offered in two categories - Young People aged 12-17 years  - 2 x 2-hour mentoring sessions by Heather Bradbury at Kapi Art Space and Adults aged 18+ - will be awarded access to a range of courses, creative mentoring and mental health wellbeing services produced by Kapi Art Spaces growing network of professionals to the value of $300.
